Hey y'all! I needed a place to quickly post these samples for my anxious subjects. :-) We had so much fun doing this shoot... as a little shout out for my small photography business, if you need family, individual, engagement, senior, (etc) pictures, I'm your girl. Time to Breathe

Hello, world. Yes... it's been a while, and I realize I've been a stranger. Life has settled down since the holidays and since I'm no longer at school, so there is plenty of time to blog. :-) Not to mention, I didn't even want to face my blog, because my last attempt at blog design did NOT turn out well- if you noticed, my blog was gross for a while. All clean now though!

Update!

We spent the holidays on the East coast- Boston to be exact, with a few days in frigid New York City at the end. I really had such a great time with my family! The Sorensens are such a great bunch... I'm happy and honored to be theirs. I think my absolute favorite part of the trip was being with my sweet neice, Ava, and nephews Ezra, Max, and Mark. I hardly ever get to see those sweet kids. I miss them! And.. their parents are okay too. ;-)

Since our trip to Boston, Scotty has been crazy busy with school (17 credits!!), and I have started working full time. Scott is doing great so far... I'm really really proud of him for his dedication in hitting school so hard this semester. Once this semester is through, he'll be able to walk in Graduation in April, then finish a couple of classes afterwords. Hooray for education!

Work is going well for me- Still at the Center for Change, a facility for the treatment of eating disorders. I really feel like it's more than just a receptionist position... I feel like I'm part of something much bigger. Let me explain. My bluegrass band had the privilege of performing for the girls back before Christmas, and ever since, I've been overwhelmed at the way my life has been blessed by these beautiful women. I have enjoyed bringing a smile to their faces through music, and in return, their smiles have brightened my days as well.

So that's where we are! Not much has changed; we are still happy and healthy as ever. :-)

Can I just tell you how much I love my family? We've been up here at my in-laws' for General Conference weekend, and I truly am so grateful to be a part of this family.

I also feel honored to be a part of the family I was born into. Due to the passing of my beloved Grandma Tingey, I've been reminded this weekend of how much I love and adore each of them. It's interesting to me how life events like this tend to bring everyone closer together and remind us how fragile life is... and how we need to cherish one another. I feel the need to express my love to my family and close friends. I feel the need to express my gratitude for the simple things in life I tend to take advantage of... my next few posts will be full of the things I love. :-)

September?? What the....

I am in absolute denial that it's September already. This year has flown past me so fast, I can't believe it! I just need to get with the program, I guess. Just take it as it comes- fast, as it is. :-)

Things are going great here in the Sorensen household... We have both started a new semester of school this past week. Scott is an Economics major (Business minor) at BYU, and we are so extremely happy that he will be graduating in the Spring!! We are so excited for what direction life will take us once he's graduated. We hope to get him a job somewhere on the East coast and live on the "wild side" for a while. ;-) (Out of our comfort zones)

I am at UVU studying Behavioral Science... and once this semester is over and I pass all of my classes (fingers crossed, hehe) I'll graduate with an Associates Degree. It's no bachelors, but at least it's somethin'! The plan is to graduate with an Associates, then work to put Scotty through school. Once he's done, I'll go back. What's nice about that is that no matter where I transfer to, they'll honor my degree and I can just get crackin' on my major classes and not have to worry about transferring individual credits- not having to worry about taking classes I've already completed and paid for in order to satisfy another University's requirements. So! That's our plan for the next year or so.

The past year has been a good one! I apologize to my frustrated readers who wished I would have blogged.... but- I'm back! I have a goal to write once a week... Don't laugh, it WILL happen! :-)

I know this poem was pushing it, but it's been a lazy Sunday and I thought this would "spice" things up a bit.

So much has happened,

So here's a brief recap,

August 2008: I had a wonderful birthday, as you have seen

September: School + work= no time to breathe

October: Halloween as Palin & McCain

November: Our Anniversary on our brains

December: We spent Christmas by ourselves this year (pretty much... hehe.)

January: I said goodbye to my job, which was followed with cheers.

February: Aching for warm air and Spring

March: Trip to the Dominican Republic on JetBlue's wings

April: A birthday surprise for Scotty- a GUN!

Partied along with the family, had so much fun!

May: Scotty said goodbye to Bloosky, his work there was through

June: Whirlwind trip to Seattle for Fathers Day, and to see Ryan, Shelley, and Maxwell too!

July: Back up to Seattle to try and sell our car

August: Had another happy birthday, and here we are! :-)

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my birthday.. 21 years old! I don't think I've ever had a birthday quite like this one already, and it's only 10:00 in the morning. :-)

It's just been really quiet around here this morning. I've had a lot of time to think and reflect on my life so far. I know this seems cheesy and probably cliche, but I am so very thankful and happy to be here- meaning on this earth, living this life. I've been thinking about who brought me here.. My amazing Dad and my Angel Mother, who unfortunately can't physically be here with me to celebrate. And that's ok.. I am just thankful that my life has stemmed from two such incredible people.

I've also been thinking about my sweet husband, who creates a life within my heart that is indescribable. Cheesy..... YES! Sincere? Absolutely. Scotty- Thank you for allowing me to be yours!

Anyhow, I'm sorry if this post is too sappy for all of your liking(s)... :-) but I mean it. I am thankful to be here, celebrating my 21st birthday.

Wow, Wow, WOW!

I should be shunned by the blogging community. Has it REALLY been this long since I blogged last? Holy smokes. Time does fly! That's probably all I talk about on here, is how fast time goes. I was talking to Scotty yesterday about how I can't believe it's AUGUST already. So much happens in a year. It's kind of fun to look back to a year ago and compare where we are now.. let's see. Last year at this time, Scotty and I started talking again and realized we couldn't live without each other... haha. My car accident was almost a year ago.. insane. ANYWAYS! Enough reminiscing..

We have been so super busy lately! We bought our new town home (LOVE IT!!!) in Pleasant Grove. We are seriously loving it here! We've had a blast decorating and getting settled. Things are actually starting to come together! I'm pretty pumped about that. There are still a few lingering boxes in the office and guest room, but other than that, we're pretty well set. It feels so great to be in our own place to call home. We're guessing we'll probably be here in Utah for a good 5 more years. Heck! We could have a kid by then! Or two. haha! Back to the subject at hand, our home... haha, I will post pictures soon. It's super cute!

I think this is all I have time for today, folks, but stay tuned for pictures of our lovely abode, and a giant post about our SWEET trip to Lake Tahoe, CA!!!

Yet Another Nashville Star Update....

Just kidding.... I'm actually still waiting!!! Quite the "update," I know. I haven't given up hope yet... but, we shall see. I was informed (on the 27th of March) that I was still "in this..." that I was in the top 200. So that's good to know that I'm still being considered. How exhausting this waiting process is, though! Wow. I am ready to know if I've made the next round or not. The next round will consist of 30-50 semi-finalists, who will be flown to Nashville in a couple weeks. Cross your fingers for me! ;-)

I finally found my cd of my wedding pics! I'll be posting those soon. YAY!!!!!

Nashville Star Update!

Holy smokes. What a weekend it was! It's Tuesday and I'm still trying to recover. :-) Like I said in my last post.. I flew out to Denver, CO to audition for Nashville Star, which is basically the country equivalent of American Idol. For those wondering if this is the same competition I did in the fall of 2006; Yes. Same competition. I had a GREAT experience in Denver! We (Kaylene and I) stood in line outside in the 33 degree weather for about 2 hours, then were able to go inside to wait some more. haha. What I'm trying to get at here, is besides the waiting around, it was a blast. I met so many nice people, and feel really good about my auditions.

I made it through the first round, which was in front of everyone, plus one camera, plus one judge. The auditions were very raw.. no microphone. (Except for the one that was about 2 feet off the ground, and strictly for the camera.) As you can imagine, it was hard to hear some people... but- what can ya do? Groups of 8 were called up by number. Each person would then step up and sing. Once everyone in the group had auditioned, the judge called forward the numbers of those who would advance to the next round. I was lucky to be the only one who advanced from my group! I was surprised. Anyhow, after that I was taken to a holding area where I was waiting to go into my second audition. I ended up waiting about an hour and a half, I think.. maybe longer. It's all such a blur at this point! In that audition, it was dark, except for the "stage" area that I was to stand on. The lights were so bright that I could barely see the casting director/red dot that was the camera. haha. First, I sang part of my original song, "Perfectly Broken." After my song, they asked some questions about things I had said on my 17 page application.. haha, Something that was a huge benefit was the casting director was very nice; a bubbly personality, so I felt like energy was being drawn from me in a positive way, I was able to adequately show my personality to them. Another thing that was really cool was that I was able to talk about my Mom, and how she has impacted my life through her awesome examples I've learned about through her journals.

So now is the worst part.. I'm waiting for a phone call from the Nashville Star Staff inviting me to the second day of the National Auditions, which is basically the last audition before getting on the show. I'm super anxious!!

Last of all... I just have to express how thankful I am to my amazing Scotty, who is so supportive of me and my dreams/goals. He's my biggest fan! So I just want to give a quick shout out to Scott, who I love SO much. Love you babe!

Long time no See!

Howdy! It's been way too long since I've posted... but.. it's bed time, so this will have to be short. Life is wonderful for us! Crazy at times, but so much fun. We are absolutely LOVING being married. Scott's still keeping busy with work and his 120+ employees, and I'm keeping busy with work at Podango.com.

Something exciting, just real quick- This Saturday, I'll be flying out to Denver to audition for Nashville Star. My AWESOME friend Kaylene is coming with me.. and we're so excited. NBC is taking over this year, so I think the show will be a whole lot better. (USA Network used to run it.) So! I'll keep you all posted on what happens! Wish me luck!

Snow!

Wow- this morning when Scott left for work, he opened the door, and to our surprise there was 6 inches of cold, white stuff on the ground! And it didn't stop till noon today. So now there's like... 7 inches of snow. Pretty!! Anyways, just thought I'd share my amazement.

Today is my sister's birthday! 24 years old... whew! She's the cutest thing... I love my sister. So- quick shout out to Shal- Love ya soo much- happy birthday. :-)

Also... I just need to brag about my sweet husband for a second. He is just... amazing. He works so hard at his job, and now he is starting school back up, and has a heavy load trying to balance the two. I'm so proud of him... I admire his dedication and determination to succeed. And on top of all that he is the sweetest man. He always finds time to hold me and tell me he loves me, and I love it. Scotty, I love you so much. Thank you for all you do! MO Love!

2008!

Holy smokes. It's 2008... I can't believe how fast 2007 flew by. But I DO have to say that 2007 has to be the best year I've ever had. Honestly. So many good things happened, there were some hard times, but you know what? When all is said and done, 2007 rocked. Scott and I started dating, we fell in love! (haha..) Took a trip to Mexico together, both of us went to Lake Powell, I went to American Idol auditions in San Diego, Scott was made a Manager of sales at MR Network (So proud of him!), I survived a car accident and the processes with insurance (still going, ps..), Scott and I got engaged, planned a wedding, and got married in the span of 2 months, then enjoyed the holidays together as a married couple. SO FUN! I couldn't have asked for a better year.

2008, however, will be excellent as well. No big plans just yet, but that's okay. One thing I do know will happen this year is my driver's license expires.... pretty exciting thing to kick things off, eh? What else... I hope Scott and I will go somewhere exciting... like Salt Lake City. Nah- I'm hoping for something more exotic than that. hmm. We'll see. I'll keep ya posted on that one. Ooo! Also- how did I forget?- In February my family is taking a "girls' trip" to LA to see WICKED. Shelley and Brooke (my sisters in law) are coming too! I'm really pumped about it.

So! This is the blogging experience. I'm looking forward to learning more about it... Maybe Jenna can help me with this. I desperately need to evolve out of my "Rookie" status. Anyways, here's a little update on "us!"

Scott and I were married on November 3rd, 2007. What a perfect day! Really.. as cheesy as that sounds, it couldn't have gone more smoothly..... minus the car trouble before the temple, then Cam (our ride FROM the temple) leaving us. Hehe. But really- We are so happy with how the day turned out; a great day to kick off the rest of forever, right?

So, here we are.. 2 months after the wedding; new year, finally semi-settled, realizing we need friends, but happy as ever. This calls for a blog! (Not that a blog will get us friends.. but it's something to keep us busy.)
